1999 (2009)
The 1999 project holds on the 48 episodes of the Space 1999 science-fiction series.
In its frame, I identify its imaginary, kinesthetic and political dynamics and use them as drives for a series of performative and musical scores.
It is a solo musical performance project where I tend to draw a parallel between the utopian dimensions of sci-fi cinema and those of musical self-production.
While creating live a lo-fi sci-fi musical with a domestic camera, keyboards and objects, I embody some of the characters participating to the production of a record: the musician, the singer, the sound engineer, the graphic designer, the photographer, the video clip maker, etc.
It is a scale model of an oversized world which questions the feasibility of an amateur indie music project. Voluntarily lo-fi, 1999 also reflects on our possibilities to access spectacle using the idea of porosity to build alternatives.
An almost-show leaving artists and spectators the choice of their investment.
