Gærald Arev Kurdian aka Hot Bodies studied visual arts in the École Nationale Supérieure de Paris-Cergy before entering the performance and contemporary dance program Ex.e.r.ce 07_Centre Chorégraphique National de Montpellier, under the direction of Mathilde Monnier and Xavier Le Roy.

Their oblique concerts - 1999 (2009), 18 Chansons (2010), My first club-song ever (2011), The magic of spectacular theater (2012), La solidité des choses (2014), Hot bodies - Stand up (2018) - are joyful synergies between electronic music practices, performance art and documentary.
They are regularly presented in the contexts of performing arts (Festival d’Automne à Paris, Kaaitheater, Usine C - Montréal, Crossing the Line - New York, Steirischer Herbst - Graz , etc), visual arts (Centre Pompidou - Metz, Fondation Cartier, etc) and indie music (Centquatre, Core Festival, Flèche d’Or, Nouveau Casino, etc).

Since 2007, they compose radio-pieces and collaborate with the french national radio program Atelier de Création Radiophonique. In that frame, they collaborate with sex workers - Je suis putain (2007) -, contemporary dancers - 6 mois, 1 lieu et le comportement de l’ensemble (2009) - and explore with them some of our bodies’ contemporary perspectives.

In 2010, they won the Phonurgia Nova grant for their project Menaces, fantôme (2011) led with the author Caroline Masini and developed since then a serie of documentary projects using songwriting as a pretext to testimony and exchange : Nos jours, absolument, doivent-être illuminés (2011) with the movie director Jean-Gabriel Périot and a group of prisoners of the Orléans jailhouse, Les îles artificielles (2015) with the employees of an insurance company.

They regularily compose scores for movie directors : Héléna Villovitch_Le plus petit appartement de Paris (2014 - Collection Canal Plus_Festival de Cannes), Louise Hervé & Chloé Maillet_The things we know (2009), Arnold Pasquier_Paramount (2010), Vincent Dieutre_Déchirés, grave (2013), choreographers: Mette Ingvartsen, Philipp Gehmacher, Simone Aughterlony, Jen Rosenblit, Marcela Santander, Eszter Salamon, Carole Perdereau, Eleanor Bauer and theater makers: Emmanuel Daumas (Comédie Française), Vanasay Khamphommala.

Winner of the Prix Paris Jeunes Talents 09, the Grand Zebrock and the FAIR 2010, their electronic songs project first LP, This is the hello monster!, has been selected among the 2010 best records of the french newspaper Libération.
In 2016, they released, Icosaèdre, a french-speaking EP produced by the electronic musician Chapelier Fou, in 2020, Tarek X I - V, an EP for clubs, produced by Apollo Noir and 2022, RMX a record of remixes together with Cate Hortl, Katu, Calling Marian, Panteros666 and DAT Politics.

In 2017 they launched the queer production house HOT BODIES OF THE FUTURE in the frame of which they initiate performative and musical experiments around alternative forms of sexuality and queer micro-politics.
With the support of ENSAB's post-master Arts et Création Sonore and the associations Emmetrop and Bandits-Mages, they present in 2018 the first Hot Bodies projects :
Hot bodies_Stand up, a solo performance on ecosexuality
Hot bodies_Choir, an inclusive queer-feminist choir
Hot bodies_Club, a party d'amour mixing workshops, conferences, screenings and DJ sets to celebrate the actors of the queer scenes.

Since 2020, they are one of the artist-researchers of the ESACM’s research cooperative.

They premiered in 2022 their last show, X ! (un opéra fantastique), in the frame of the french Festival d’Automne à Paris and in the brussels based Kaaitheater’s program.
